Overview

MicroHint is a reading companion that explains text you explicitly select. This policy describes what we collect and why.

We designed the product around minimal data: your reading stays on your device unless you choose to request an explanation for selected text.

What we collect

When you request an explanation, we receive the text you selected, a small amount of surrounding context needed to explain it, and basic technical metadata required to operate the service (such as an anonymous installation identifier).

We do not collect full page contents, browsing history, keystrokes, or the contents of documents you have not selected.

How we use information

Selected text and context are used only to generate the explanation you asked for and to enforce fair daily usage limits.

We do not sell personal information. We do not use your reading activity to build advertising profiles.

Storage and retention

Saved explanations and highlights you choose to keep are stored locally in your browser unless you explicitly use a save feature that persists them on your device.

Server-side logs and usage counters are retained only as long as needed to operate the service, diagnose issues, and prevent abuse.

Your choices

You control what gets explained — nothing is sent until you select text and request a hint.

You can uninstall the extension at any time, which removes locally stored extension data from your browser.
